King of the Hammers is de meest ruige race tot nu toe. Het vindt plaats in de Johnson Valley in California wat bekend staat als nagenoeg ontoegankelijk. De wagens die je dan ook hier voorbij ziet komen zijn gemaakt met maar een doel: om onverwoestbaar en onstuitbaar te zijn.
Hoewel King of the Hammers maar een dag duurt, is er hiervoor al een complete week aan spektakel in de vallei.
“The first race our drivers faced was the Polaris RZR King of the Hammers UTV race. It is a two-lap race that takes place on the same course as the Smittybilt Everyman Challenge, so the features of Spooners and Outer Limits would be bypassed in Pro class while Sportsman Class had two additional bypasses. Their first bypass started at Highway 19, just before Checkpoint 5 covering 1.3 miles and the second bypass started just pass Chocolate Thunder to Road Crossing 26 for 1.7 miles. The total distance for both classes would be 120 miles.”
